In 1988, the very first World AIDS Day was observed on December 1st. It is a day for people worldwide to unite in the fight against the AIDS epidemic, to show support for those living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have lost their battles to an AIDS-related illness. This year’s theme for World AIDS Day is “Remember and Commit to Ending HIV” It encourages people to unite globally to eliminate the disparities and inequities that create barriers to HIV testing, prevention, and access to HIV care. Action Wellness has proudly recognized World AIDS Day since its inception, and has used December 1st as a day to remember those lost to HIV, reach out to those who need our services, and shed more light on the continuing struggles of those living with HIV.

In commemoration of World AIDS Day, we continue our special public awareness campaign called “Action Heroes Wear Red”. The purpose of the campaign is to refocus attention on the continuing stigma, discrimination, and other issues, which affect people living with HIV.

From 9 am to 5 pm on Friday, December 1st, we will post our Action Hero photos, HIV facts and video messages every hour on our FacebookTwitter and Instagram accounts, and on the World AIDS Day section of our website. Be sure to follow along on
