Action Wellness Executive Director Statement on COVID-19

Dear Friends,

In order to protect the health and wellness of our clients, volunteers and staff, all Action Wellness offices will be closed starting at 3 pm on March 25, 2020 until further notice. Our main phone line at 215-981-0088 will be open for all calls if you need support during this challenging time. Our staff is working from home, and we will continue Wellness Checks by telephone for clients. Staff are available to provide medical case management services, housing counseling, information and referral, and advocacy. Our Volunteer Buddy program will continue to offer support on the phone with clients.

Please note that this closure includes free HIV testing at our Annex West location, Immediate Seating, and all on-site volunteer activities.

Please call us with any questions or concerns at 215-981-0088. Our on call staff are available 24/7 for your needs.

Action Wellness clients are among the more vulnerable members of our community to illnesses, and, as always, our clients are our top priority. We recommend that all of our clients, volunteers and staff closely follow the recommendations from the CDC:

  • Wash your hands, using plenty of soap and water for at least 20 seconds. A good way to do this is to sing happy birthday twice while washing your hands.
  • If you cough or sneeze, please use a tissue to cover your nose and mouth or use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth.
  • If you are sick, stay home and seek medical care.
  • Social Distancing: Social distancing is the practice of reducing close contact between people to slow the spread of infections or diseases. Social distancing measures include limiting large groups of people coming together, closing buildings and canceling events. In general, maintain at least six feet distance from other people. Please do not congregate in common areas or work areas. If you need to communicate with someone, please use the phone, email or text messages.

      • Malls
      • Workouts in Gyms
      • Visitors in your home
      • Non-essential workers in your home

      • Visit a local restaurant- Consider using take home or supporting restaurants by purchasing gift cards.
      • Visit a grocery store
      • Pick up medications
      • Traveling
    • Safe to do:
      • Take a walk
      • Go for a hike
      • Yard work
      • Play in your yard
      • Clean out a closet
      • Read a good book
      • Listen to music
      • Cook a meal
      • Family game night
      • Go for a drive
      • Group video chats
      • Stream a favorite show
      • Check on friends
      • Check on elderly neighbor
